Our oriental therapy treatments may be incorporated into your Shiatsu massage to assist with your wellbeing and will be discussed during the consultation at the start of your Shiatsu treatment. These treatments are also available individually. Please make an enquiry to determine the most appropriate treatment for your ailment.
Cupping
Cupping is a ancient technique that is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Cupping is performed by introducing heat inside a glass cup to create a vacuum. The cup is then applied to the body and the suction created brings the pathogens or stagnant blood to the surface of the body enabling it disperse effectively.
Following a cupping treatment painless circular marks may be visible and will disappear after a few days.

Moxibustion is the practice of burning a prepared dried herb called mugwort to facilitate healing.
It is a very relaxing and soothing treatment where the glowing ember from a moxa stick is held closely over acu points or area requiring treatment. It can assist to tonify an area of deficiency.
Often used in the colder months to relieve stiff and painful muscles and joints.

TDP Heat Lamp
The Heat lamp is used for the micro-circulation of blood caused by the lamp and can have many beneficial effects on the human body. The warmth can ease the stiffness in the muscles and reduce inflammation simply by spending time lying under it. You lie under the lamp with the the heat directed towards the affected area. You’re likely to feel only a warm sensation that is soothing and relaxing.
The duration of each session is typically 20 to 30 minutes with a number of session recommended.

Dry needling involves inserting a fine, flexible and sterile acupuncture needle into a trigger point. This practice is typically used to treat the pain associated with injuries. A trigger point is a tender spot in a tight band of muscle which causes pain when pressed or squeezed. Dry needling helps to release shortened bands of muscle caused by abnormal functioning of the nervous system.
A slight increase in discomfort may be experienced for one to three days following the session an expected improvement to the area of concern.
